Greg has over 25 years of accounting and auditing experience. He has received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration fromSoutheast Missouri State University University in 1983. Going on to work in public accounting for 9 years gave him the skills and experience to become the first finance director for the City of Farmington, Missouri, which he held for five years. He then worked in the public sector as a controller for a locally owned Farmington business. In 2000, he decided to venture back into the public accounting arena and formed his own practice, which he merged with Lee Thurman's CPA practice to form Thurman, Shinn and Company, CPAs in 2001. He serves as outsource controller for two large non-profit organizations. Greg is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, is the former treasurer of the Farmington Industrial Development Authority, treasurer of the Regional Economic and Civic Team. Greg enjoys spending time with this wife Sally, and their two children. He also enjoys basketball and reading.
Sherri Stroup, CPA was a tax and audit manager with Thurman, Shinn & Company for 7 years when she was promoted to partner on May 1, 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree fromSouthwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. She has over 20 years of public accounting experience and has served as a controller for a manufacturing company.
Sherri specializes in corporate and individual taxation as well as financial reporting and auditing. She is qualified as a peer reviewer and performs peer reviews and serves as a governmental specialist for other CPA firms across the state.
Katie has practiced in public accounting since 1983. She worked as a manager with Grant Thornton, an international CPA firm from 1983 to 1990. At Grant Thornton, Katie supervised a variety of engagements and served as an instructor in their national continuing education program. In 1990, Katie returned with her family to Farmington. Katie became a Partner with Thurman, Shinn, and Company in 2009. At Thurman, Shinn and Company, Katie works with a variety of clients in accounting, auditing and taxation. Katie also performs Peer Reviews for other CPA firms. Katie has been very active in the community serving as Chairperson of the Parkland Hospital Foundation and on the board of directors for Parkland Hospital. Katie is past-president of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce; the Focus on Farmington Foundation and the Young Peoples Performing Arts Theatre. Katie has also actively served on other community boards including the Mineral Area College Foundation, Youth for Christ, various clubs and church organizations. Katie is married to Rod Rhodes, a local orthodontist and has three children, Matt, Ashley and Alex who are in college and graduate school.
Amy graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2005 and joined Thurman, Shinn & Company team as a Staff Accountant shortly thereafter. In 2007, Amy was promoted to Senior Accountant. Any specializes in financial reporting, individual & corporate tax, audit engagements and bookkeeping. She is currently working to obtain her Masters of Business Administration at Southeast Missouri State University and preparing to take the CPA examination.

John specializes in corporate, individual, trust and payroll taxation as well as financial reporting. He is a certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor and provides his clients with QuickBooks training and support. He is currently preparing for the successful completion of the CPA examination. Prior to Thurman, Shinn & Company, John attended Mineral Area College and obtained an Associates Degree while also playing basketball for the MAC Cardinals. John obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Central Methodist University and then interned at Thurman, Shinn & Company in 2002 and 2003. He formally joined the Thurman, Shinn & Company team in 2010.
John has over 8 years of public accounting experience and has experience as a staff accountant for a pension consulting firm and a publicly traded propane company.
Adam graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in May of 2007 with a Masters of Accountancy and obtained his CPA immediately thereafter. He began his public accounting career at Rubin Brown, LLP, a large, regional firm in St. Louis where he developed a strong tax background. Adam joined Thurman, Shinn & Company in the fall of 2010. With over four years of public accounting experience, he now specializes in financial reporting, individual and corporate tax and bookkeeping.
Amy has a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Central Methodist Universtiy. She currently works on financial reporting, payroll engagements and bookkeeping. Amy also engages in individual and corporate tax.
Currently, Amy lives on a cattle farm in Ste. Genevieve County, with her husband and two children. She is active with St. Paul Lutheran School, in Farmington, MO, as the chair for the St. Paul Lutheran Auction. Amy is also on the board of education with St. Paul Lutheran School.
Daniela grew up in St. Louis County and moved to St. Francois County in August 2009 when she married her husband Aaron. She is a graduate of Hickey College and brought more than 20 years of administrative office experience with her.
Daniela has 4 adult children and 1 grandchild. She is a member of House of Praise in Desloge and sings on the Praise & Worship Team.
In 2008, Gina graduated from Mineral Area College with an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management in Accounting. She loves spending time with her husband, daughter and family. She enjoys singing, various crafts and baking. In the future, Gina will be persuing her bachelors degree in accounting and is contemplating striving for her CPA as well. |
