Lee Thurman grew up in the Farmington, MO area and has been helping clients with their tax and accounting needs for over 30 years. Lee attended Mineral Area College and then graduated with honors from Southeast Missouri State University, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with an accounting major and a minor in economics. In addition to being a CPA and a member of the state and national associations, he is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). After graduation, he worked for other accounting firms for 16 years before opening his own practice in 1999. Lee is currently a member of American Institute of CPAs, Missouri Society of CPAs and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Lee met his wife Cindi, an occupational therapist, through their church when they were in High School. They have now been married for 30 wonderful years and have three children. Work and family keep Lee busy, but in his free time, he likes to play tennis and guitar. He also volunteers regularly at his church, where he enjoys being an active member.

Greg has over 25 years of accounting and auditing experience. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1983. Going on to work in public accounting for nine years gave him the skills and experience to become the first finance director for the City of City of Farmington, Missouri, which he held for five years. He then worked in the public sector as a controller for a locally-owned Farmington business. In 2000, he decided to venture back into the public accounting arena and formed his own practice, which he merged with Lee Thurman's CPA practice to form Thurman, Shinn and Company, CPAs in 2001. He serves as outsource controller for two large non-profit organizations.

Greg is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, former treasurer of the Farmington Industrial Development Authority, treasurer of the Regional Economic and Civic Team.

Greg enjoys spending time with this wife Sally, and their two children.  He also enjoys basketball and reading.

Sherri Stroup, CPA began her career in public accounting in 1987 after earning her Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Southwest Baptist University in 1985. She joined Thurman, Shinn & Company as tax and audit manager in 2002 and became a partner in 2009. She also has experience as controller for a manufacturing company.

Sherri specializes in corporate and individual taxation as well as financial reporting and auditing. She is qualified as a peer reviewer and performs peer reviews and serves as a governmental specialist for other CPA firms across the state.

Sherri is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She is an active member and Sunday school teacher at New Heights Church in Farmington. Sherri is married to Steve Stroup, a native of Farmington and president of Trimfoot, Company. They have two children, Derek and Haley. She also enjoys reading and traveling.

Katie is a Farmington native.  Upon graduation from  Farmington High School, Katie attended  William Woods University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 1981.  Katie continued her studies at the  University of Oklahoma where she obtained her Master of Accountancy and CPA in 1983.

Katie has practiced in public accounting since 1983.  She worked as a manager with Grant Thornton, an international CPA firm from 1983 to 1990.  At Grant Thornton, Katie supervised a variety of engagements and served as an instructor in their national continuing education program.  In 1990, Katie returned with her family to Farmington.

Katie became a Partner with Thurman, Shinn, and Company in 2009.  At Thurman, Shinn and Company, Katie works with a variety of clients in accounting, auditing and taxation.  Katie also performs Peer Reviews for other CPA firms.

Katie has been very active in the community currently serving as chairperson of Parkland Hospital Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of Missouri Baptist Hospital.   Katie is  past-chairperson of  the Parkland Hospital Foundation;  past-president of the  Farmington Chamber of Commerce; the Focus on Farmington Foundation and the  Young Peoples Performing Arts Theatre.  Katie has also served on other community boards including the  Mineral Area College Foundation,  Youth for Christ, various clubs and church organizations. 

Katie is married to Rod Rhodes, a local orthodontist and has three children, Matt, Ashley and Alex who are in graduate school.

Adam graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in May of 2007 with a Masters of Accountancy and obtained his CPA immediately thereafter.

He began his public accounting career at Rubin Brown, LLP, a large, regional firm in St. Louis where he developed a strong tax background. Adam joined Thurman, Shinn & Company in the fall of 2010. Adam was promoted to Partner in 2015. He now specializes in financial reporting, individual, corporate and trust/estate taxation.

Adam is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He is married to Jennifer Schweiss and has four children: Emma, Audrey, Henry and Jack.

John attended Mineral Area College and obtained an Associates Degree while also playing basketball for the MAC Cardinals. John obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Central Methodist University while interning at Thurman, Shinn & Company in 2002 and 2003. John has practiced in public accounting since 2006. He also has experience as controller for a manufacturing company as well as staff accountant for a pension consulting firm and publicly traded propane company.

He is responsible for project management, while continuing to specialize in corporate, individual, and payroll taxation as well as financial reporting. He is also a certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor and provides clients with QuickBooks training and support.

Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Southeast Missouri State University.  She joined Thurman, Shinn & Company after spending six years as the assistant controller for a manufacturing company.  Prior to that, Kelly spent sixteen years in public accounting.

Kelly enjoys attending sporting events, especially Cardinal’s baseball games, with her husband Steve.  She also enjoys cooking and reading.  She is a life-long member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church where she has served in various positions over the years.

Crystal received her Bachelor of Accountancy from Central Methodist University in 2018. Upon graduation, she immediately began her public accounting career in a mid-sized firm in St. Louis, where she worked as a staff accountant. There, Crystal gained knowledge and experience from working with a variety of clients providing various tax, payroll and bookkeeping services. In the summer of 2021, Crystal joined Thurman, Shinn & Company after obtaining her CPA.

Crystal is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She also plans on obtaining her Quickbooks Pro-Advisor certification by the end of 2021.

Crystal enjoys daily life with her significant other, Aaron and her younger sister/ward, Barbie. In her free time, she likes writing, reading, travelling and spending time with friends, family and her dogs: Eevee, Ru and Monkey.

Alisha was raised in the small town of Russellville, MO, located just outside of Jefferson City.  Alisha  graduated from the 

She began her public accounting career in the auditing practice at KPMG, LLP, in St. Louis, performing audits of various clients in a variety of industries.  She was promoted to a senior and transferred with KPMG to their office in Boulder, Colorado.  In December of 2012, she moved to Farmington with her husband, Harry Peterson, local American Family Insurance Agent, where they currently reside. 

Alisha joined Thurman, Shinn & Company in the fall of 2013 where she currently specializes in audits of a variety of local entities.

Alisha is an active member of Meadow Heights Church in Farmington, MO and enjoys traveling, cooking and hiking.

Erin graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in December of 2012 with a Masters of Accountancy and obtained her CPA immediately thereafter.

Erin began her public accounting career at RubinBrown, LLP, a large, regional firm in St. Louis where she worked in the Entrepreneurial Services Group. At RubinBrown, Erin worked with a variety of clients in a variety of industries on assurance, tax, and bookkeeping engagements.

In December of 2015, Erin moved to Farmington with her husband, Eric. At that time, Erin joined Thurman, Shinn & Company.

Erin’s hobbies and interests include cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Lauren was born in Farmington, MO but moved to the small town of Hollister, Mo just outside of Branson, MO when she was 6 years young. After graduating high school from Hollister, she moved back to Farmington and attended Mineral Area College. She received her general Associates degree there and continued on to Central Methodist University where she received her Bachelors of Accountancy in May of 2015.

Lauren joined Thurman, Shinn & Company in June of 2014. She plans to continue her education by earning her Masters in Accountancy from Southeast Missouri University and becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

Lauren enjoys reading, camping, hiking, attending St. Louis Cardinal games, and spending time with her family.

Eileen graduated from St. Joachim High School, and has received her Certificate of Bookkeeping from John Hancock Bookkeeping School in St. Louis, Missouri. She has attended Mineral Area College. Eileen comes to us from A. Norman Parker, PC., where she was an administrative assistant. Eileen has a distinguinished background in the accounting relm working for such companies as Brown Shoe Company, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph Church in Bonne Terre, Shared Accounting for Archdiocese of St. Louis, Ministerial Alliance, Immaculate Conception in Park Hills and St. John the Apostle in Bismarck, Missouri.

Eileen is a member of St. Joseph Church in Bonne Terre, Missouri. She enjoys volunteering for fund raisers for school and church. Eileen is married to Hollis Finley, and has three sons. She enjoys spending time with family and her pets.

Tanya Thomas had recently moved to the Farmington area to marry Doug Thomas, a third generation St. Paul Alumni, when she was approached and asked to teach Spanish to the first grade class at St. Paul Elementary. She taught at St. Paul for 10 years before joining Thurman, Shinn & Company in 2018. Tanya has a BA in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a native speaker of Spanish.

With her husband, she is also a co-owner of BOGO Sandwiches, a local sandwich shop that donates one sandwich to local food pantries for every one sold. She is a proud mother to three young boys and loves teaching all ages to appreciate other cultures and languages.

An active member of St. Paul Lutheran church, she enjoys the arts, languages, traveling, reading and spending time cheering on her sons’ at their various sports events.
